The Rosary is for Mary. Other chaplets are for Mercy. The St. Michael Chaplet is for War.
It was revealed to a Portuguese nun, Servant of God Antonia d'Astonac, in 1751. St. Michael told her he wanted to be honored by nine salutations corresponding to the nine choirs of angels.
The Promise
St. Michael promised that whoever prays this chaplet daily:
- Will have an escort of nine angels (one from each choir) when receiving Holy Communion.
- Will have his continual assistance and that of all the holy angels during life.
- Will be delivered from Purgatory (along with their immediate family).
The 9 Choirs (Lowest to Highest)
- Angels
- Archangels
- Principalities
- Powers
- Virtues
- Dominions
- Thrones
- Cherubim
- Seraphim
How to Pray It
It uses a special set of beads (9 sets of 3 beads + 4 beads at the end). For each choir, you pray 1 Our Father and 3 Hail Marys, asking for a specific virtue (e.g., "Banishing the spirit of pride," "Dominating our passions").
