Just before He went to Jerusalem to die, Jesus took Peter, James, and John up a high mountain. There, he was transfigured. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became dazzling white.

Why Did He Do It?

To give them hope. He knew they were about to see Him beaten, bloody, and crucified. They needed to see the Glory first so they wouldn't lose faith during the Agony. As St. Thomas Aquinas said: "The Transfiguration was a sacrament of the second regeneration (resurrection)."

The Guest List

Two men appeared with Him:

  1. Moses: Represents the Law.
  2. Elijah: Represents the Prophets.

Their presence proves that Jesus is the fulfillment of the entire Old Testament. The Law and the Prophets bow to Him.

Peter's Mistake

Peter says: "Lord, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents." He wanted to stay in the glory. He wanted to skip the Cross. But the cloud overshadowed them, and the Father said: "This is my beloved Son. Listen to him." The message? Don't camp. Listen. We can't stay on the mountain forever. We have to go back down to the valley of service.
