Vocational discernment is the process of discovering what God is calling you to—whether marriage, priesthood, religious life, or single life.
Signs of a Call to Religious Life
1. Drawn to Prayer
You find yourself drawn to prayer, to the Mass, to the sacraments.
2. Service
You have a heart for service—wanting to give your life to others.
3. Chastity
You're at peace with the idea of celibacy for the sake of the kingdom.
4. Community
You feel drawn to community life.
The Discernment Process
1. Pray
Start with prayer. Ask God to reveal His will.
2. Talk
Talk to a priest or a spiritual director.
3. Visit
Visit monasteries, convents, or seminaries. See what the life is actually like.
4. Journal
Keep a journal of your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
