We tremble at what the monitors might reveal, and we ask for Thy calming Holy Spirit to steady our breathing.
We surrender this tiny unborn life entirely into Thy hands.
We pray that the technician's probe may reveal a strong, steady heartbeat,
properly developing organs, healthy limbs, and peace in the womb.
Lord, whatever news the physicians bring us today,
remind us that this child is made in Thine own divine image and likeness,
infinitely loved by Thee before the foundation of the world.
Cast out all spirit of panic and despair.
Give our doctors discerning eyes and gentle, truthful tongues.
Cover our baby with the wings of holy angels, and grant us the peace that surpasses all human understanding.
