Saint Joseph of Cupertino Prayer to Pass an Examination (Even When Unprepared)
📜 Historical & Biblical Origin: Saint Joseph of Cupertino (1603–1663), Italian Franciscan mystic, struggled severely with academic learning and reading. During his ordination examinations, the examiner happened to ask him about the only single biblical passage he had thoroughly mastered (Luke 11:27), causing him to pass miraculously and become the Patron Saint of test takers, examinees, and students facing difficult tests.
🕯️ Instructions & Posture: Recite while seated at your study desk or standing outside the examination hall before entering to write your school, university, MCAT, NCLEX, Bar, or licensing exam.
O Humble Saint Joseph of Cupertino,
who by thine intense prayer didst obtain from God the grace to be asked at thine examination only those questions which thou didst know:
Obtain for me like favor in the examination for which I am now preparing.
Thou knowest how hard I have labored, and yet how frail is my human memory and intellect.
Calm all anxiety, panic, and mental fog in my mind.
Grant that during this test, the examiners / computer may present questions that align with the knowledge I possess.
Preserve my mind from blanking out under time pressure.
Give me clarity of thought, sharpness of reasoning, and an articulate pen.
I promise, Saint Joseph, to make thy name known and to use whatever success I achieve
not for vanity or selfish ambition, but to serve God and my fellow human beings with honesty and excellence.
Saint Joseph of Cupertino, patron of students and examinees, pray for me!
Holy Spirit, illuminate my mind. Amen.

My eldest son had not spoken to our family for over 4 years. We offered a Holy Mass intention for him on his birthday and united in prayer on this wall. Two weeks later, he knocked on our front door asking for forgiveness. God never abandons a praying mother.

Facing foreclosure, I turned to this prayer every morning at dawn. When my savings were down to their last week, a company I had interviewed with two months prior called out of nowhere offering a higher salary with full benefits. Keep the faith!

I woke up gasping with chest-tightening anxiety and dread. I opened MyPrayerTower and read this prayer out loud. By the time I whispered the final Amen, a tangible warmth washed over my chest. I fell asleep in total peace. Jesus is real.
