and the grief of losing the freedom to go wherever I wished, whenever I wished.
Lord, preserve my heart from stubborn pride, bitterness, and anger toward those who care for me.
Help me to see that giving up the driver's seat is an act of charity:
protecting other drivers, pedestrians, and my own loved ones from harm.
Give me the grace of humility to accept rides with cheerful gratitude rather than resentment.
Provide faithful transportation for my church visits, doctor appointments, and groceries.
Teach me that my dignity as an elder lies not in moving fast across highways,
but in abiding deeply in prayer, contemplative peace, and wisdom.
Guide my footsteps along the final road that leads to Thee.
