O Most Sweet Jesus, Divine Healer and Protector of the helpless:
I lie here in the forced stillness of bedrest, counting the hours, days, and weeks.
Thou knowest the fears that grip my heart: the fear of premature delivery,
the frightening monitors and ultrasound measurements, and the physical aches of confinement.
Lord Jesus, reach Thy hand into my womb.
Strengthen the placenta, steady the cervix, regulate the fluid, and sustain the heartbeat of this precious unborn baby.
Guard every delicate organ, tiny bone, and fragile vessel currently taking shape beneath my heart.
Give me the patience to endure these long days without complaint.
Transform this bed of medical restriction into an altar of prayer and maternal love.
Give wisdom to my obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, and nurses.
Keep this baby safe within the shelter of my body until the full appointed term of forty weeks,
that we may bring forth a healthy, thriving child to receive the waters of Holy Baptism.
