The child is so small, so fragile, yet so precious in Thy sight.
Lord Jesus, Breath of Life, breathe vigor into these underdeveloped lungs.
Close the tiny heart ducts that need to close; preserve the brain from bleed or injury;
give strength to the fragile digestive system; and shield this incubator against infection and sepsis.
Give wisdom, delicate skill, and vigilance to every neonatologist, respiratory therapist, and NICU nurse on duty.
Comfort our hearts as parents: when the alarms sound and our tears flow,
remind us that Thine own pierced hands are cradling this infant every second of this night.
Bring our baby safely through each day, each milestone, each ounce gained,
until the day we carry our healthy child home in triumph.
